Les King, Waitrose’s Operation Manager (Refrigeration), will present a paper on “Hydrocarbons in Commercial Refrigeration” as part of the IRI Autumn 2011 seminar series.
The paper, which was first presented to the UK Institute of Refrigeration earlier this this year, will explain why hydrocarbon refrigerant was selected for Waitrose’s new stores and major re fits, and will show the new concept for store refrigeration and its integration with building services.
The significant carbon and cost savings achieved through almost total leakage elimination and improved store energy efficiency will be quantified. The paper will also show how HC refrigerant has been safely applied in equipment ranging from display cabinets to chillers, and the procedures which have been developed so engineers can work safely on HC systems on a shop floor.
