Description

Technical Sessions:

Legionella Control in Buildings and Cooling Systems (Seamus Kerr, RSL) –

The presentational will give an overview of the Legionella bacteria including sources of the bacteria, methods of transmission. The presentation will present control methods for the prevention of Legionnaires Disease. Legislation and risk assessment methods will be discussed.

Adiabatic Cooling and Data Centre Cooling (Tom Bosmans, BAC) –

In the presentation, we will explain what adiabatic cooling is, discuss the techniques that are available and how it actually works. The design goals will be described, more details will be given about the controls and we will give an example related to a data center.

About the Speakers

  • Seamus Kerr works for RSL Ireland Limited as the technical director. He is responsible for design of refrigeration systems including evaporative cooling towers and condensers. He is the current president of the Institute of Refrigeration Ireland (IRI). He is the chairman of the Information Group of AREA, the European association of refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump contractors. Seamus was a member of the committee that wrote the current National Guidelines for the Control of Legionellosis in Ireland.

  • Tom Bosmans works as an Application Manager for Baltimore Aircoil International (BAC). He is responsible for the design and selection of BAC products for different applications within Europe. Baltimore Aircoil is a global leader in developing, manufacturing and distributing evaporative or hybrid cooling and ice thermal storage products. Tom’s role is working with consultants, and engineering offices and to inform those parties with regard to BAC products and applications – Adiabatic Cooling and Data Centre Cooling.
