The EPA published a tender in August 2010 for an “Enforcement Support Contract – Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS) and Fluorinated Greenhouse Gases”.

The contract was described as follows: “The Resource Use Unit is seeking experienced personnel to assist in achieving the following objectives:

(1) To carry out a campaign of inspections to determine compliance with the ODS and F-gas Regulations;

(2) To assess current levels of compliance within the sectors inspected and to make recommendations for future enforcement priorities; and

(3) To raise awareness and understanding of the requirements of the ODS and F-gas Regulations and to promote compliance among the obligated sectors during inspections.

A contract award notice was published in October 2010 – the contract was awarded to URS Ireland Ltd. They are currently visiting a large number of RAC contractors and RAC end-users throughout Ireland to assess compliance levels and report back to the EPA.

If you or your clients haven’t yet received a visit, it may just be a matter of time. Make sure you are ready.
